This 5 Days Rwenzori Mountains Hiking package and Adventure offers you an opportunity to ascend to a flat valley of lobelia plants. There is much information about the Rwenzori range of mountains. Notably, the Rwenzori Mountains have long been dubbed the mountains of the moon. They call to life the ethereal beauty of the snow-capped Margherita peak rising, luminescent, in the moonlight. During your ascending and descending of the Rwenzori mountains, you will realize that there is profound power in the verdant flora that sprouts from the base to the top of this mountain range. Day1: Warm welcome to Uganda and journey to Rwenzori
You will receive a warm welcome from out team at the airport in Entebbe on your arrival. After a briefing, you will start of with your guide from Entebbe. You wil meander westward towards the fabled mountains of the moon, also known as the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. The journey offers a quite sight that will most definitely blow your mind. We will journey through Fort portal where we will have your dinner and good night rest.
Accommodation: Wild Tracks Overland Camp
Day2: Start the Trek through the Bamboo Forest of Rwenzori
You will be driven in the morning to Kilembe where the preparations for the hike begin. You will then start off the trek and along the steady trek from the valley floor to Sine camp, we meet a multitude of birds. There are also black & white colobus monkeys swinging in the canopies. On a lucky day, we might spot L’Hoest monkeys, which are cultural emblems among the Bakonzo and therefore under the protection of Omusinga, the King. The woods bloom with bamboo, flowers, fungi, moss, and hanging vines covered in lichen. We come upon Enoch’s Falls which opens to a breathtaking view.
We will then reach Sine Camp at 2,596 meters ASL, overlooking Enoch’s Falls and the lush forest beyond. You can decide to enter y rustic wooden huts for the night or choose to trade tales around a crackling campfire, surrounded by tranquil forest and the open night sky.
Day3: Ascend to the Valley of Splendour through Bamboo Forest
On your day 3 of 5 Days Rwenzori Mountains Hiking package and Adventure, set off from Sine Camp for a steep climb through bamboo forests characterized by fruit and berry trees. You will not miss a call of Crimson winged Rwenzori turaco bird rings through the crisp air. You are at 3,000 meters and the bamboo gives way to towering heather trees, some 15 meters high. Tucked away in the heather trees is Kalalama Camp, with a view of Lake George and the amazing Queen Elizabeth National Park. We keep ascending until we turn and descend to a flat valley of lobelia plants. A short jaunt takes us to Kyra Villa where we again descend to enter Samalira Camp, which is cusped in a small dip carved from the landscape.
Day4: Continue to descent along Nyamwamba River through the bamboo forest
On your day 4 of your trip, you begin the descent back through the serene bamboo forest, accompanied by bird calls and chimpanzees screeching in the distance. At Omusita Rest Area, we may continue a straight descent or divert to the scenic route, a trail following Nyamwamba River. All paths reunite at the park entrance and we continue from there back to Wild Tracks Overland Camp. For your relaxation and overnight.
Day5: Transfer back to Entebbe for departure via Equator
The mountains of the moon diminish in the rearview mirror, but they loom large in our memories as we return to Kampala and on to Entebbe International Airport for our flight back home. A stop at the Equator presents an opportunity to grab a few souvenirs and gifts from the delectable craft markets. You will have your en route lunch and proceed to airport depending on your departure time. This marks the end of our 5 Days Rwenzori Mountains Hiking package and Adventure.
