Volcanoes National Park is located on the Rwanda –Congo border. The park is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas. The park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda is done, and Visitors flock to this amazing park to experience a face-to-face encounter with these incredible creatures. In addition, visitors are allowed to spend an hour with these primates in their natural habitats. Apart from mountain gorillas, the park is blessed with other attractions such as the golden monkeys, Crater Lake on Mount Bisoke, Musanze Cave, Twin Lakes (Ruhondo and Butare), Karisoke Research Centre, Dian Fossey’s grave, River Mukungu, and local communities.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National  Park

The day starts with a transfer to Kigali airport for your helicopter flight to Volcanoes National Park. The helicopter will land at Musanze airstrip, from where you will be picked up by our professional guide in a safari vehicle, which will drop you at One and Only gorilla nest to check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Musanze

Your day starts with an early breakfast at 6; 00 am, and then you are ready to get to the park headquarters at 6:30 am for the gorilla trekking briefing. You will then head into the park under the guidance of a guide and two scouts so that you are able to track the amazing gorillas from a closer range in their habitats. There is then an opportunity to discover the 10 families of gorillas that live within this park. This beautiful experience can last from 2-6 hours, but it’s definitely worth it. After the trekking experience, you will head back to your lodge for lunch. Then be ready to travel to Musanze airstrip for your helicopter flight.  It is expected to depart at 16:30 back to Kigali airport for your international flight.
